Study of the cajù pulp: partnership Acs
(association for the cooperation and the development), Conges, Deafab, Universitt of Padova (State of Cearà, in Jjioca de Jericoacoara). The aim of the study was to understand how to exploit a resource always unused to give un incentive and new ways for the local agriculture. It’s about cajù, wild plant that produces a real fruit (chestnut of cajù better known as cashew, whose trade is already very developed) that grows at the estremity of a false pulpy fruit, object of the study above-mentioned. The Region of Cearà is an area that produces big quantities of cajù where there is a serious problem of waste, because the 96% of the cajù peduncle is wasted, the farmers pick the chestnut throwing on the ground the false fruit. The final project plans the installation of a mini enterprise (it’s about a pilot project that could be repeated in other areas of the country) for the cultivation of this fruit with the involvement of the local population to improve the existing life conditions and to solution, even if partially, some socioeconomic problems which exist in this specific area of Brazil.
